The Ultimate Client Manager has gone through quite a bit since its first release. There is absolutely no way I could have received same level of exposure (and sales) if I had tried to sell my application on it’s own. Three years and 1400 sales later (1+ every day!), the success of this application has exceeded all of my expectations, and then some. I was soon receiving an enormous amount of feedback, countless feature requests, bug reports, complaints and praise from happy customers. The signup process was painless, and my application received a HUGE amount of exposure straight away (~200 unique viewers per day). The hype around this new marketplace excited me! Finally an “ eBay for Code” backed by a company who really knew how to sell digital goods. Bingo! Time to sell it.ĬodeCanyon appeared shortly after I created my first UCM release. After doing some research I found that hundreds of freelance web developers were in need of a simple system like the one I had just created. This will help answer some questions others have about selling their own large PHP applications on CodeCanyon.īack in 2009 I created a small in-house application for the simply recording customer website details (FTP and Email passwords). This post contains a quick overview of my application features, along with it’s brief history and future plans here on CodeCanyon. With 75000 lines of code (and growing every week) it is up there with some of the largest applications I have ever created. The Ultimate Client Manager (UCM) has been a pet project of mine over the past three years. Are you interested in selling large PHP applications on CodeCanyon? Then this post if for you!

Bosnia is a fine idea that no longer really needs to exist. Longtime fans know there are better versions of these songs elsewhere, and casual fans only need one of the hits collections (the Capitol Collectors Series remains the best). He is rock-solid all night long, particularly on the "Paranoid" medley and concert favorite "Inside Looking Out." But again, the audience for this disc is pretty slim. Mark Farner seemed to get more press for his lyrics and interviews than his guitar playing, which is a shame. "T.N.U.C." is as good as the Caught In The Act version and "Aimless Lady" gets new life with a punched-up guitar figure that brings out a sort of desperation in the song. Even if the songs aren't that different from the way they've always been played, the guys take an obvious delight in rocking through their early catalog. The band is as tight as ever, although perhaps a bit lacking in energy 27 years on from Live Album. The show closes with "Loneliness," a forgotten epic from E Pluribus Funk that talks about population control and a glorious land and other hippe-type stuff that sounds goofy coming from three guys from General Motors-heavy, blue-collar Flint, Michigan. The first disc is the power trio with the occasional guest appearance the second brings on the orchestra, which adds additional instrumentation to "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home," "Bad Time," "Mean Mistreater," and "Some Kind Of Wonderful," though no live version of this song has yet to better the studio take. Certainly, the band's fans were happy to see them play the songs they have loved for years and years, which come one after another: "Footstompin' Music," "We're An American Band," "The Loco-Motion," and a version of "Time Machine" with special guest Peter Frampton on guitar.įrampton is only one of the special guests Bob Seger's sax player Alto Reed shows up and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra plays, conducted by Paul Shaffer (formerly of the David Letterman show). Given that Grand Funk was not shy about political stances – even if they were generalized – this is not out of character and is in fact admirable. Now, if ever there was a reason in 1997 to reunite, it was the crisis in Bosnia, and the proceeds from this show in Auburn Hills, plus CD sales, went to aid in the war-torn country. Live Album and Caught In The Act are the two official GFR live discs and tell you what you need to know about these guys live with the repetition between Bosnia and those two, there's almost no need for this to exist on a musical level. Seeing them played live with little improvisation or expansion on what they could achieve makes this concert unnecessary regardless of your fandom level. Limousine Driver" will be a treat for longtime fans.īut this disc isn't really aimed at longtime fans, even though that group is the only one who will be interested in a double live reunion disc at this point, which is kind of funny. Only "To Get Back In" is any kind of surprise, a deep cut from Shinin' On, and the medley of forgotten early cuts "Paranoid," "Sin's A Good Man's Brother," and "Mr. Track listing Īll songs written and composed by Mark Farner except where noted.Although recorded for a good cause and seemingly a prelude to a comeback for the band after 14 years, Bosnia turns out to be the worst kind of live release – one that simply trots out all of the band's hits with little interest in expanding on them.Īcross two CDs, the reunited trio (they didn't bother bringing back keyboard player Craig Frost, who helped this band to commercial glory after their early ‘70s doldrums) plays every single one of its hits, plus a handful of album tracks from their first four albums. Another group says MyLife has violated the Illinois Right of Publicity Act, reselling their “addresses, employment histories, criminal records, social media pictures and other sensitive and personal information.” Spokeo was sued for allegedly displaying inaccurate information, and it went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of the company. MyLife is being sued by several consumers, with one group accusing it of bait-and-switching people to pay one fee to find out who is searching for them and then getting extra recurring charges. The other sites had me down in less than a day. A follow-up call said MyLife takes five to seven business days for removal. Worst of all, after calling on Monday (88) to demand my removal from the index and being asked to give my name, street address and birth date, as of Friday evening, everything was still there. It also said I "may" have bankruptcies and liens, sex offender notices and eviction reports. For instance, MyLife told me "you have arrest or criminal records" and offered me the chance to view these, provided I pay $1 for a three-day trial membership that could be canceled only if I called in. The Transition ZoneĪs you move from the ending, you find yourself in a transition period, or the neutral zone. You may even feel excitement for the new beginning that you’re moving toward. You can experience sadness, or a bit of numbness. It can feel confusing, stressful, or just plain scary. When something shifts, a lot of different emotions can come up. It feels a lot like the ending of a chapter in a book.Ĭhange isn’t easy. Whether a relationship changes or a job ends, we often find ourselves at a moment when a phase of life comes to an end. The beginning of change is also the end of something. The model identifies three phases: Ending What Currently Is, The Transition Zone, and The New Beginning. The William Bridges’ Transition Model provides a roadmap through the emotional landscape of change. How to manage change: The Transition ModelĪlthough it’s impossible to predict the future, understanding what to expect, you’ll have a better idea of how to manage the uncertainties that come along with change. Although you can’t predict the future, you can learn to navigate transitions, how to prioritize your life more effectively, and to become more resilient along the way. That’s why embracing change is so important. While it’s certainly helpful to set goals, fixating too much on the end result means missing out on opportunities for personal development, growth, and even having a little fun along the way. And let’s face it - life never goes as planned. People often become so obsessed with the expectations, they feel disappointed or are quick to give up when things don’t go perfectly. The road to achievement comes with all sorts of twists, turns, and dead ends. After all, making a big change in life doesn’t happen overnight. We set expectations.īut this way of thinking can make it difficult to navigate through change. Whether we want to make a big change, or a change happens to us, we visualize the outcome. We often look at our goals in life in the same way. Instead of savoring the experience of preparing the cake, we create expectations of the end product, missing out on enjoying the process. When setting out to accomplish something, like baking a cake, we often think in terms of the outcome. If you were to bake a cake, what’s the first thing that you picture? Perhaps you imagine the cake itself, a yummy tower of chocolate with rich buttercream icing on top. Not in his goals but in his transitions man is great. With the right strategies, you can begin embracing change and build the life you’ve always dreamed of. Romeri, we have just such a specialist whose clear, Catholic aesthetic vision seems to have been senselessly pushed aside. The pastor or bishop should also be willing to consult with – and when appropriate, defer to – the director’s long developed specialty. At the very least, a pastor or bishop should know that the Church has specific wishes in regards to music in the liturgy, and be able to hire a well-trained music director to execute the Church’s vision. This situation is made worse by a strong lack of seminary education on Catholic liturgical music and aesthetics, along with a general attitude which precludes the competent Church musician’s natural authority in such matters. The “tyranny of taste” is part of the “dictatorship of relativism,” each boiling over, often with disastrous results, into the Church’s liturgical life. Yet it seems that outside of the small community of competent musical authorities, few Catholics – let alone their clergy – seem cognizant of the fact that musical choices in the Mass are anything but a “matter of taste.” The simple fact that Catholic liturgy has historically evolved organically along with its music – that it is traditionally a sung liturgy (as aptly documented in William Mahrt’s “ The Musical Shape of the Liturgy”) – puts music near the center of the hermeneutical debate over authentic liturgical development that is such a staple of modern Catholic discourse. Regardless of the reason, this tragic misunderstanding between competent ecclesial authority and competent musical authority brings to light a long-standing conflict between the proper Catholic aesthetic and what is assumed to be the aesthetic derived from the so-called “Spirit of the Council.” In light of this, one can only speculate that the Archbishop may be pushing his See’s music program to sound more “contemporary” and less Catholic, especially in anticipation of the pope’s forthcoming visit to Philadelphia. The kind of music presented on these occasions rarely reflected the wishes of the Church regarding proper liturgical fare. Chaput’s masses were often accompanied by a well-rehearsed but aesthetically deficient contemporary band. This author recalls his time spent in Denver, where Abp. While Archbishop Chaput is a well-respected and highly articulate theological conservative – as well as a gifted homilist – he has never been known for liturgical traditionalism. While at this point, I am not sure just what my next musical adventure looks like, it is absolutely the right thing for me to leave this present situation.” There are simply irreconcilable differences in our understanding of the role of music in the Liturgy and the role of the choir. This is the continuation of several years of discontent on his part with the Liturgical Music at the Cathedral and at Archdiocesan liturgies. “This Holy Week, while some of the most beautiful liturgies I have ever conducted, was not well received by the archbishop. It is therefore distressing that Romeri, in his otherwise genteel and understated letter of resignation, wrote: The work of this latter has become, by most accounts, the American standard for music at a well-executed Novus Ordo. It is the kind of musical selection that might be heard in many liturgically conservative areas, and comparable to the regular and excellently executed musical fare at the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Perusing the Sacred Triduum congregational Mass handout for 2015, we can see Romeri’s tasteful selection of music, which alternated between simple chants, congregational singing, and choral polyphony. Regarding the reasons for his resignation, Romeri cited a “constant griping” on the part of his boss, Archbishop Chaput, and “irreconcilable differences” regarding their understanding of the role of music in the liturgy. It is worth noting that he is generally considered an aesthetic moderate, and thus, not a controversial figure. Romeri – once named “Full-time Pastoral Musician of the Year” by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, is held in high regard as a performer, educator, and clinician in the world of Catholic music. The news this week of the unexpected and noteworthy resignation of Johh Romeri as head of Liturgical Music in Philadelphia has put the issue of music front and center in the Catholic world. It is all-too-frequently deemed something suitable for competent amateurs, of lesser concern and of secondary importance – until, of course, it isn’t. Most Catholics in our world seem to take a flippant attitude towards liturgical music. Martin Luther King and Planned Parenthood. The Schismatic Trads Were Right? Drawing on old sci-fi roots, the developer frequently references Aelita, a Soviet-era sci-fi classic, as a major influence, something that becomes obvious the further you delve into the game. However, if we get right down to it, LP is primarily about its story and the gameplay is really just to propel that story forward. They aren’t really challenging or even time consuming, but they come at regular enough intervals to keep you from getting bored scrambling around the far corners of the planet. The game also throws some puzzles in to spice up the flow of the game, but that’s all they’re pretty much there for. Yes, there are trophies to be had if you discover each and every way that this alien world wants to kill you and trust me, there’s a lot. Speaking of not making jumps, LP also rewards you for something that you regularly do in games but are rarely rewarded for – aka, dying. There were several times that I didn’t think I could make a jump but somehow managed to cross what must have been a kilometre, just to scrape on to the platform which was certainly fun. Traversing massive alien canyons is as simply as a leap of faith and some expert tweaks of your jetpack. The jetpack will semi-regularly get ‘refuelled’ to allow you to maximize your jumps and that’s when the real fun sets in. The platforming comes courtesy of a jetpack attached to your suit and what I can only imagine is lighter gravity cause you have some serious ups. The gameplay of LP is fairly straight forward as it is primarily a platformer that likes to splice in some puzzles here and there. Ride the first two platforms up to reach the lower "level" of the giant cake. Pull it by pressing Y (the "interaction button") to create a path made of steam-powered platforms Many bunnies will spawn from three Marge cakes here ignore them all, and locate a lever on the left side. Continue on the left side, breaking through another small wall to reach a larger area As you proceed, before the Marge-cake-spawning-point, there will be another jumper on the left side which will let you reach Duff Bottlecap # 02/05 Jump down the roof and proceed to the street, ignoring the bunnies (unless you deliberately want to fight them) and the "Marge cake" in the middle of the street, which is the place from where they spawn Jump on it to reach a rooftop, where you will find the first Homer-related collectible of this stage: Duff Bottlecap # 01/05 As any interaction object (except a few buggy ones), they are marked with a small light which helps you locating them. Shortly after this barricade, check the right side of the area to find another jumper platform. Past a small bridge you need to destroy a small barricade: either use your regular punches ( XXY is the best combo available, especially against regular enemies, and it can break their guard XXXX works fine for random objects and enemies that are not guarding), or your special ability (hold B to charge a "fire breath") to get through Do so at any time to unlock Cliché # 01/01 (Double Jump) There is one "Cliché", a kind of collectible, awarded for performing (in the case of this stage here) about 10 double jumps. Outlook for Mac will run on macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later, and like most of Microsoft's apps these days, it's a Universal app binary that runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. If nothing else, the new Outlook for Mac is a welcome alternative to Apple's built-in Mail and Calendar apps, which work basically fine most of the time but improve very little between macOS releases. When you use non-Microsoft IMAP email accounts like Gmail in the Outlook for Mac app, Microsoft will continuously sync emails, calendar appointments, and contacts to its own servers, effectively maintaining a second copy of all the data that's already being stored by your email provider. To ensure that all third-party email services work the same as first-party services in the Outlook app, it goes a bit further than most mail clients when syncing with third-party email providers. Microsoft already offers a free version of the Outlook client for iOS and Android, and it's currently testing a preview of a redesigned Outlook app that will replace the free built-in Mail and Calendar apps that ship with Windows 11. The free version of Outlook will look and work mostly the same way as the paid version, but it will be ad supported.
